The Devika Champions League
The Devika Champions League (DCL) is a premier T-20 cricket tournament hosted in Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir. Named after the sacred Devika river that flows through the heart of Udhampur, this tournament represents the spirit, resilience, and passion of the region's youth.
Season I marks the inaugural edition of the DCL, bringing together 8 franchise teams, 120 selected players, and thousands of cricket enthusiasts for approximately 15 days of intense, high-quality cricket at the historic Subash Stadium.
Our Inspiration — Martyr SI Deepak Sharma
The DCL is not just a cricket tournament — it is a living tribute to Martyr Sub Inspector Deepak Sharma of the J&K Police, who made the supreme sacrifice during a fierce shootout with wanted gangsters in the Kathua District of Jammu and Kashmir.
SI Deepak Sharma's police team successfully cornered the main gangster — a key accused in a murder case — leading to an intense exchange of fire. Displaying exceptional courage, he sustained fatal head injuries during the gunfight. His actions were instrumental in neutralizing the most wanted criminal at the scene.
"We salute the valour and unwavering dedication of Martyr SI Deepak Sharma, whose supreme sacrifice in the line of duty leaves behind an enduring legacy of heroism."
Every match, every ball, and every moment of the DCL is dedicated to his memory. The tournament embodies the values he lived by — duty, courage, and excellence — represented by the Blue, Saffron, and Gold colours of the league.
